How To Activate and Set Up the Workplace Kiosk App

The Kiosk app is a solution for larger organizations looking to enhance their employees' workplace experience. It can be used on any touchscreen device with a web browser.

The Workplace Kiosk app is available for Pro and Enterprise plans.

Before you start


Set the tablet in Kiosk mode

We recommend setting all tablets where you use the Workplace Kiosk app in Kiosk mode to facilitate self-service and increase customer engagement.

The Kiosk mode restricts the device's functionality to a single app. Employees cannot exit the app, making the tablet a dedicated device for that specific app.

Kiosk mode for Android tablets

  1. Go to Settings > Security and Privacy > Other security settings.

  2. Search the "Pin App" option and enable it.

  3. Tap the "Recents" button and click your preferred browser app's icon.

  4. Tap the pin icon and your Android tablet will be locked into kiosk mode.

Kiosk mode for iPads

  1. Go to Settings > Accessibility.

  2. Turn on Guided Access.

  3. Enable Passcode Settings and select Guided Access Passcode or Touch ID.

  4. Optionally, set Time Limits to play a sound and have the remaining time spoken.

  5. Optionally, toggle Accessibility Shortcut to let users triple-click the side/Home button during a Guided Access session to display Accessibility Shortcut settings.

  6. Set Display Auto-Lock to how long before the iPad will lock automatically during a Guided Access session.

  7. Open your preferred browser.

  8. Triple-tap the side/Home button to begin Guided Access.

If it doesn't work on your iPad, please contact Apple support. Alternatively, you can turn on full-screen in Safari to hide the toolbar and increase screen size.

Activate the Workplace Kiosk app

To activate the Kiosk app, follow these steps:

  1. In the Workplace Admin Portal, go to Settings > Advanced Settings > Employee Apps.

  2. Select OfficeRnD Kiosk App and click Update.

Add kiosk(s) to your floor plans

After you have activated the Kiosk app, you must update your floor plans to include the location of your kiosk tablet(s). To do that, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Workplace > Locations and click a floor plan image to edit the floor plan.

  2. In the toolbar, click Add Kiosk and move your cursor to the floor plan. Then, click anywhere to place the kiosk. This will add a "You are here" marker to the floor plan in the Kiosk app.

  3. Click the kiosk icon and select Edit Kiosk.

  4. In the Edit Kiosk dialog:

    1. Enter a name for the kiosk (for example, "First Floor – Center"). This name will help admins organize their Kiosk app configurations if a floor has multiple kiosks.

    2. Select the display language for the Kiosk app on that specific tablet.

    3. Click Update.

Each kiosk you add to a floor plan creates a new individual URL to access the Kiosk app on a tablet. In other words, you can use different Kiosk apps for each tablet in your office.

Customize the Kiosk app

The Kiosk app isn't customizable. It uses the logo and theme of your organization's Web Portal. Learn how to customize the Workplace Web Portal →
