As your business grows, invoices can become lengthy and harder to review. To make them easier to read, you can format the invoice summary section to display totals by Account or show detailed line items in separate sections.
This article explains how to structure your invoice summary using the invoice template, where to find the relevant HTML code, and how to apply it to your custom templates in Flex.
Format your invoice summary
Invoice templates in Flex let you organize invoice details in a clear and professional layout. You can customize how charges are displayed in the summary section by grouping them by Account or showing each line item individually.
Here’s an example of a two-page invoice layout:
First page: Displays summarized totals by Account.
Second page: Lists detailed line items for full visibility.
Customize your template
If you want to create invoices like the example shown above:
Go to Settings > Data & Extensibility > Templates.
Open the Invoices tab.
Open the Invoice template.
Insert the desired layout or code snippet.
Read our help article for Document and Template Customization.
If you are familiar with HTML code, you can find the snippets of code you can use to do this in this Help Article. It also includes the HTML code of the example that can be seen above.
