What To Do if Apple Rejects Your Branded App?
Updated over 3 weeks ago

If Apple rejects your app and removes it from the App Store, you must submit additional materials to address their concerns. In most cases, this involves recording two specific videos, which require preparation and assistance from a second person. Follow the steps below to complete this process.

Step 1: Set up internal testing

To set up internal testing, the Apple Developer Account Holder or an Admin with the necessary privileges must follow these steps:

  1. Log in to the Apple Developer website using your Apple Developer account credentials.

  2. Go to Apps, select the app name, and open the TestFlight tab.

  3. Click the + icon next to "Internal Testing."

  4. Name the group and click Create.

  5. After creating the group, select which internal testers will test the app.
Internal testers are individuals listed under your Apple Developer account:

  6. In the Builds tab, ensure the app is added. If it isn't, add it manually.

Once added, testers will receive email notifications to test the app using TestFlight.

Step 2: Install and test the app

Once added, testers will receive email notifications to test the app using TestFlight. To install and test the app, follow these instructions:

  1. Install the TestFlight app on the iOS device you'll use for testing.

  2. Open the email invitation or public link sent to testers and tap View in TestFlight.

  3. Tap Accept, then Install to download the app to your device.

Step 3: Record the required videos

You must record two videos:

  1. A screen recording from your iOS device that shows the app in action.

  2. A camera recording from a second person, capturing the process of unlocking a door with the app.

To record the videos, follow these instructions:

  1. Log in to the app on your iOS device.

  2. With a second person present, go to a lock in your access integrations (for example, Brivo, Salto KS, Kisi, or Avigilon Alta).

  3. Start the recordings:

    • Begin a screen recording on your iOS device while on the app dashboard.

    • Have the second person record the process using their camera.

  4. Demonstrate the following steps during the recordings:

    • Tap the key icon on the bottom right of the app screen.

    • Grant Bluetooth and location permissions when prompted.

    • Show how the lock unlocks successfully.

  5. When finished, stop both recordings.
