[Dashboard] Memberships
Updated over a month ago

The Memberships dashboard outlines your monthly membership performance. The "Date Range" filter allows you to select a date from any month to show the aggregated data for that month.

All amounts displayed on the dashboard are prorated. For more information on how proration works, refer to the examples below.

Remember that a single membership can have more than one status within a month. For example, if you have a membership that started and ended in the same month, it will affect the New Memberships, Terminated Memberships, and Active Memberships counts within that month.

Dashboard overview

The four widgets at the top of the dashboard provide summarized membership information for the selected time period:

  • New Memberships – The total number of memberships started during the selected period, including a comparison with the total number of active memberships.

  • Terminated Memberships – The total number of memberships that end during the selected period, including a comparison with the total number of active memberships.

  • New Revenue – The prorated revenue generated from new memberships in the selected period, including a comparison with the total revenue.

  • Discounted Memberships – The number of active memberships with applied discounts during the selected period and the total prorated discounts.

Hint: You can click on any number for a complete list of individual memberships.

Proration explained

We understand that memberships do not always start or end at the beginning or end of the month. In the interest of accuracy and better visibility, we have introduced a proration system in the calculation of the report's monetary fields. The proration is taken from your organization's settings (monthly or averaged).

For example, if a membership starts in the middle of the month and would have generated $100 if it had been active for the full month, it will instead appear in the report as $50 (roughly). The proration calculation works even if the membership was only active for one day, which would appear as $3 (roughly).

Memberships Revenue by Plan Type

This pie chart shows the distribution of prorated membership revenue between plan types during the selected time period.

Memberships Revenue by Location and Plan

This interactive chart allows you to explore the prorated membership revenue for each location, plan type, and individual plan during the selected period. To do this, hover over the corresponding slice of the chart.

Click on the corresponding slice to focus on a specific location or plan type.

To go one level up, click the center of the chart. To reset the chart, use the breadcrumb navigation in the top left corner.

Memberships Churn Rate by Location

This chart shows the monthly membership churn rate for each of your locations. It is calculated as the ratio of terminated memberships during the month to the number of active memberships at the beginning of the month.

New and Terminated Memberships by Month

This chart compares new and terminated memberships each month during the selected period. It shows monthly net membership growth, calculated by subtracting the terminated memberships from the new memberships for the respective months.

Memberships Totals

This table summarizes the totals shown across the dashboard visualizations and provides a monthly breakdown of them. Each total can be clicked to see a list of memberships that make it up.

The table cells are highlighted in a different color depending on the trend identified - for example, if the revenue for the current month is greater than the revenue for the previous month, the cell will be formatted in a darker shade of green.

The metrics included in the table are:

  • New Memberships – The total number of memberships started during the selected period, including a comparison with the total number of active memberships.

  • Terminated Memberships – The total number of memberships that end during the selected period, including a comparison with the total number of active memberships.

  • Net Membership Growth – The total number of new memberships minus the total number of terminated memberships.

  • Active Memberships – The total number of active members during the selected period.

  • Active Memberships (Beginning of Month) – The total number of active members at the beginning of each month during the selected period.

  • Memberships Churn Rate – The ratio of terminated memberships during the month and the number of active memberships at the month's beginning.

  • Total Memberships Revenue – The prorated monthly membership revenue during the selected period.

  • Discounted Memberships – The total number of active memberships with applied discounts during the selected period.

  • Total Discounts – The prorated monthly discount amount during the selected period.

  • New Revenue – The prorated revenue generated from new memberships in the selected period, including a comparison with the total revenue.

  • Lost Revenue – The prorated revenue generated from terminated memberships in the selected period, including a comparison with the total revenue for the period.
