When an email fails to send or gets suppressed, someone needs to fix it quickly. You might not want every admin resending emails or clearing suppressions without oversight, since clearing a suppression affects deliverability going forward. The Email Activity permission lets you set exactly which roles can take those two actions.
This permission is listed alongside your other role permissions in the Admin Portal. It controls what admins with a given role can do on the Email Activity page, where failed and suppressed emails show up.
Find the Email Activity permission
The Email Activity permission sits with the other Operations permissions for each role.
Go to Settings > Account Details > Admin Roles.
Open the role you want to edit.
Open the Operations tab.
Find Email Activity. It has two checkboxes:
Resend Email – All admins with this role can resend failed emails.
Clear Suppressions – All admins with this role can remove a suppression blocking future emails.
Click Save.
Important: If you select only one checkbox, only the corresponding button appears on the Email Activity page for that role.
Review the default role settings
System roles have different defaults for this permission, and custom roles don't inherit it on their own.
Owner – 'Resend Email' and 'Clear Suppressions' are turned on by default. Both buttons show up in Email Activity.
Manager – Same as Owner. Both are on by default.
Viewer – Both are off by default. Neither button shows up.
Important: Existing custom roles don't automatically get this permission. To allow a custom role to resend emails or clear suppressions, manually select the permission for that role.
Best practices
Use these settings to balance quick fixes against oversight.
If you run multiple locations with local teams, select Resend Email for local managers but keep Clear Suppressions limited to Owners. Clearing a suppression changes deliverability going forward, so it's worth restricting.
If you use custom roles for support staff, check the Email Activity permission after you read this article. It stays off until you select it.
FAQ: Email Activity permission
Why don't I see the Resend Email button on the Email Activity page?
The Resend Email button is hidden because your role doesn't have that permission selected. Ask an Owner to select Resend Email for your role under Permissions > Operations.
Will my custom roles get these permissions automatically?
Your custom roles won't automatically receive Resend Email and Clear Suppressions. They keep their current settings, so select the permission manually for any role that needs it.
What's the difference between Resend Email and Clear Suppressions?
Resend Email and Clear Suppressions control two separate actions on the Email Activity page. Resend Email resends a failed email, while Clear Suppressions removes a block that prevents future emails from reaching an address.
