You can set up printers to print badges from the Visitor app. To do that, you must complete the following steps:
Set up a printer for the Visitor app.
Activate the Visitor Badges feature for any flow in Visitor Hub.
You can set up a printer Using Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. We recommend using Bluetooth.
Bluetooth setup
Step 1: Unbox and configure the printer
Unbox your printer and prepare it for use.
Insert the label roll: you can find step-by-step instructions in this help article from Brother →
Secure the coin cell battery:
Ensure the printer is turned off.
Open the cover and remove the insulation seal from the coin cell battery.
Use a coin or similar object to lock the battery cover into the lock position.
Note: Insert the battery with the (–) side down.
Assemble the badges: Insert and assemble the roll of badges into the printer. Learn more →
Turn on the printer:
Connect the black power cord to the printer and a power outlet.
Press the Power button. Confirm that the green status light turns on.
Set up the printer settings:
Turn on Bluetooth:
Press the [Menu] button.
Use the [▲] and [▼] buttons to select:
Bluetooth > Bluetooth (On/Off) > On. Press [OK].
Bluetooth > Automatic Reconnection > On. Press [OK].
Return to the main screen using the [↩] button. You should now see the Bluetooth icon in the top-right corner.
Step 2: Pair the printer with the iPad
On your iPad, open the Settings ⚙️ app.
Go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn on Bluetooth.
Under Devices, find the printer named Brother QL-820NWBxxxx (for example, “Brother QL-820NWB1234”).
Select the printer. The status should change to Connected.
Tip: The 4 digits at the end of the printer name identify your specific printer. Write these digits on the printer for easy reference.
Close the Settings app and open the Visitor app.
Wi-Fi setup

Turn on the printer:

Press the Power button. Confirm that the green status light turns on.
Set up the printer settings:
Turn on Wi-Fi:
Press the [Menu] button.
Use [▲] and [▼] to navigate to WLAN > WLAN (On/Off) > On. Press [OK].
Select WLAN > Infra Manual Setting. Press [OK].
Connect to Wi-Fi:
The printer will search for available networks. Ensure your printer and iPad are on the same Wi-Fi network.
Note: The Brother printer supports only 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. If you use a dual-band router, your iPad can remain connected to 5 GHz while the printer connects to 2.4 GHz.
Use [▲] and [▼] to select your network. Press [OK].
Enter your Wi-Fi password:
Use the [Menu] button to switch between uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols.
Use [▲] and [▼] to select characters.
Confirm connection:
If successful, the printer will display “Connected!”. Press [OK].
If the connection fails, repeat the steps above.
Verify Wi-Fi: Return to the main screen using the [↩] button. The Wi-Fi icon should appear in the top-right corner.
Activate badge printing in Visitor Hub
Open the Admin Portal and go to Visitor Hub > Tablet App Settings > Tablet Flows Customization.
Click Customize to customize your check-in flows.
Click Customize for the "Visitor" flow to activate Visitor Badges.
Open the Badge Printing tab and turn on the toggle switch.
Customize what the badges will look like.
Test printing
Turn on your iPad.
Open the Visitor app, and tap Sign In.
