Most meeting room bookings last an hour or two, not a full day, so a flat daily price doesn't fit. You might also want to give members a set number of free hours through credits, then charge for anything over that, or charge more for evenings and weekends. An hourly resource rate handles all of it, so members are charged the right amount for the exact time they book.
In OfficeRnD Flex, you create hourly resource rates under Billing > Resource Rates, then attach one to each bookable resource. A rate draws on your revenue accounts to post charges, and works next to billing plans, which price your recurring and one-time services. This article explains how hourly rates work, how they price bookings shorter than a day, and when an hourly rate is a better fit than a daily one.

How hourly resource rates work
An hourly resource rate defines pricing for bookings measured in hours, half days, and full days. You can set separate prices for non-business hours and weekends, so a room costs more during periods of higher demand and less when it is usually not used.
How does it work? You link each bookable resource, such as a meeting room or event space, to an hourly resource rate. When that resource is booked through the Member Portal or the Growth Hub storefront, OfficeRnD Flex calculates the price based on the booked hours and the prices you set.
Here is what you can configure for hourly resource rates:
Base pricing: Per hour, per half day, and per full day.
Time-based pricing: Separate prices for non-business hours and for weekends.
Extras: Optional one-off fees the member can add at booking.
Amenities: Included features shown with the rate at no extra charge.
Revenue account: The account the booking charges post to.
Policies: Cancellation and booking policies that set the booking rules.
OfficeRnD Flex needs an hourly rate to price any booking shorter than half a day. For that reason, use an hourly rate for meeting rooms. Create and manage all rates on the Admin Portal, under Billing > Resource Rates.
Set non-business-hours and weekend pricing
Hourly rates can charge different prices by time of day and day of week. This helps when a room is in high demand during work hours but quieter in the evenings, or busier on weekends.
Set a non-business-hours price to charge a different rate outside your working hours.
Set weekend prices (per hour, per half day, or per day) to charge differently on Saturdays and Sundays.
A weekend is any day not set as a workday for your organization or location. If you don't set a weekend price, the business-hours rate applies on weekends too. To make weekend bookings free, create a weekend rate and set it to $0.
Use case examples
The examples below show common ways spaces configure hourly rates.
Hourly rates for meeting rooms
If members book rooms by the hour, set a price per hour and, if you want, a discounted half-day and full-day price for longer bookings.
Free hours with paid overage
If your plans include free meeting room hours through credits, set an hourly rate so members are charged only for the time they use beyond their credits.
Higher evening and weekend prices
If demand spikes after hours, set non-business-hour and weekend prices above your standard hourly rate.
Event spaces without hourly bookings
Some resources, such as event spaces, are only ever booked for a full day. For those, skip the hourly price and set a full-day price only. Members can then book the space by the day, with no hourly option.
Best practices
These tips help you set up hourly rates that match how your space runs.
If a resource is booked for short periods, such as a meeting room, always set an hourly price so short bookings are priced correctly.
If demand changes by time of day or day of week, set separate non-business-hours and weekend prices.
If you export invoices for reporting, set a unique code on each rate so line items are easy to trace.
If you offer extras, link only the ones relevant to the resource. Don't overload a rate with unrelated add-ons.
Tip: Double-check how your revenue accounts and cancellation policies are configured before you assign them to a rate.
FAQ: Hourly resource rates
What are hourly resource rates?
Hourly resource rates determine how much you charge members to book a resource, such as a meeting room, by the hour, half-day, or full day.
When should I use a billing plan, and when should I use a resource rate?
Resource rates and billing plans are two pricing models you can apply to your offerings in your space. Resource rates price bookable resources, such as meeting rooms and event spaces. Billing plans price other recurring or one-time services, such as office rentals, dedicated desks, or printing.
Do I need an hourly rate for every meeting room?
Every meeting room needs an hourly rate, because OfficeRnD Flex uses it to price bookings shorter than half a day. Without one, short bookings may not be charged correctly.
Can I charge different prices for weekends and non-business hours?
You can set separate prices for non-business hours and for weekends, including hourly, half-day, and full-day options. Each price applies only at the time you configure it.
What happens if I don't set a weekend price?
If you don't set a weekend price, the business-hours rate applies on weekends. Set a weekend price only when you want weekends charged differently.
Can I add extras to a resource rate?
You can add extras to a resource rate. Create a one-off fee for each extra first, then select those extras when you set up the rate. Members choose them at booking, for example, catering or special equipment.
How do I price an event space that doesn't allow hourly bookings?
For an event space with no hourly bookings, skip the hourly price and set a full-day price only. This limits the resource to full-day bookings.
Which resources should use a daily rate instead of an hourly rate?
Resources booked for whole days at a time, such as hot desks or private offices, suit a daily rate better than an hourly one. Use an hourly rate when members book shorter blocks of time.
